Our First Family Christmas

Here are some shots from our first family Christmas photo shoot. We loved every minute of it and Tommy REALLY had a ball. We have discovered he loves the sound of Katie's camera. :)

Tommy's 1st Month

I was talking with a friend last night and something hit me like a ton of bricks...6 months just FLEW by. I know all of my mom friends will say, "just wait, he'll be a year old before you know it." Is it sad that I'm like, um please don't grow any more? Tommy is at such a fabulous stage in his life where he gives back so much to us. His smile, laugh, and every moment in between. As I was posting these pictures I couldn't help but smile and remind myself (as we all should every day) that you MUST treasure each and every moment while they last. Time sure does fly when your having fun.

Pumpkin Patch

Although we could only hope for cool and breezy weather in November it simply was not the case for our pumpkin patch pictures. In fact, it was pretty darn hot. Of course, I had purchased an outfit (before Tommy was even born) to be worn for pumpkin patch pictures and Thanksgiving - and I was determined to get a picture of Tommy wearing it. It was so hot and I felt horrible about putting him in it, but it was just for a quick photo opp (excuses, excuses). I knew you would forgive me Tommy. You really loved those big, round pumpkins. You were quite intrigued.

BOO! My First Halloween

So in true Christin style I waited until the LAST second to find a costume for sweet Tommy for his first Halloween. Sadly, I found the last infant costume at Wal Mart and it needed a black turtle neck underneath. So I rushed back to the baby clothing department and, of course, there were no black turtle necks for boys but a MILLION turtle necks for girls with sweet ruffled sleeves...sorry Tommy. You do what you have to do for the look. Rob and I went back and forth on whether or not to even get a costume because he wouldn't necessarily be awake to greet the trick-or-treaters...it was strictly a one-time photo opportunity for us. Unfortunately, my mom was in the hospital on Haloween but our little pumpkin made a surprise visit and brought so many smiles to the Cardiology wing that day! :)

The funny and sweet thing about the whole thing is that Tommy REALLY enjoyed being in his costume. I was a bit apprehensive about it and didn't want to create this awful experience for him - but he LOVED it. It was pretty cute if I do say so my self. BOO!

A Look Back

It's hard to remember a time before Tommy...before Duke & Delta...when we were just two little love birds having fun. Here's a look back at some great photos of me and Rob during our first year together and the first "best day of our lives" when we got engaged on March 10, 2007. Enjoy.

Welcome Baby Tommy!

Rob and I began our morning on Friday, June 4th as we had every Friday prior for the past several weeks...PRAYING and HOPING that today would be the day my OB/GYN, Dr. Christina Simpson, would say, "OK...let's go meet your baby boy today!" Please keep in mind I was SO HUGE and miserable and ready to meet him so very much that I could hardly wait.

I went into see the doctor for my weekly routine visit on Friday afternoon and she said I had not yet progressed enough to induce that day, so she scheduled me for an induction the following Friday, June 11, 2010. Little did we know that we would meet Mr. Tommy the next day! I remember eating sushi on Friday night and feeling very crummy and around 8:00 p.m. I started to have contraction pains that would not go away. From that point on it is a bit of a blur, but I went to the North Central Baptist Hospital at around 1:30 a.m. and they admitted me into Labor & Delivery at around 6:30 a.m. Saturday, June 5th. One little fun fact for you Tommy...your Mom requested an Epidural and felt GREAT at around 11:00 a.m. Later that afternoon around 3:00 p.m. (I will never forget this) your daddy was rubbing my leg and I suddenly realized...I can feel you do that! Then I asked him to touch my feet and I could feel everything! This was a bit terrifying considering I knew I was about to deliver, but we did it together. All I can remember is the moment I held you for the very first time and how happy I was to finally meet you.

Thomas Robert Gish III was born at 3:28 p.m. that afternoon and the rest is history. Here are some wonderful pics of that day and the days to follow. We love you Tommy!

Tommy's Announcement & 3 Month Pictures

I started thinking about Tommy's announcement the minute we designed his room color scheme, before he was even born. I knew I wanted to do an announcement that coordinated with his room colors - I just wasn't quite sure how I was going to do it. We took photos of Tommy when he was a little over a month old and they were beautiful, but I basically didn't act quickly and before I knew it - Tommy was growing SO fast and the photos didn't truly depict how he looked at the time.

I really wanted his announcement to show what Tommy REALLY looked like and I think we did just that.

Here is a picture of his birth announcement. Tommy was about 3 months old. Below are some additional photos from his 3 month photo shoot taken by the always so fabulous Katie Clementson.
